Safe Schools

Wilfrid Jury Public School

2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on creating healthy and respectful relationships between students.

We are doing this to build a positive school community by equipping students with tools to identify and manage their emotions and independently solve problems.

 Key Actions or Strategies

  • creating a culture of kindness, respect and pride among staff and students.
  • giving students the tools to identify and resolve in-person and online conflict independently through explicit instruction and restorative conversations.
  • creating a common language for the school community to use when resolving conflicts.
  • provide opportunities for parents to engage with the school and explore ways to support students with conflict management skills and cyberbullying.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about the problem-solving framework and common language used at school when working through conflict. (Stop It, Name It, Explain It, Ask for Change)
  • Try role playing conflict resolution skills at home with your child.
  • Check out this resource: www.mediasmarts.ca to help support students to develop critical thinking skills necessary to engage with media as active and informed digital citizens.
